Gifts from Christ - Talk on Dec 27, 2009

Good morning brothers and sisters. My name is Carrie Wang and I’m in 25th ward. I’m from Taiwan actually and it is my second time to give a talk in English, so I will speak a little bit slow. Uhhh….If you fall asleep, I can totally understand, so don’t worry.

In the Christmas season, we get a lot of gifts, sometimes we won’t get what we want or what we expect, but luckily we can return them. However, gifts from Christ are priceless and He knows each of us and He knows what we need.

He gave us his life as the perfect example, so we can pattern our lives after Him. Not only did he give us the perfect example, but he suffered for us to bring us the blessing of the Atonement and the Resurrection. In D&C 19:16-19,
16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;
17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;
18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—
19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

President Ezra Taft Benson said, “Some men are willing to die for their faith but will not fully live for it. Christ both lived and died for us. By walking in his steps and through his atonement we can gain the greatest gift of all--eternal life--which is that kind of life of the great Eternal One, our Father in heaven.”

In 3 Nephi 27:27,
And know ye that ye shall be judges of this people, according to the judgment which I shall give unto you, which shall be just. Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am.

President Benson also said, “That man is greatest and most blessed and joyful whose life most closely fits the pattern of the Christ. This has nothing to do with earthly wealth, power, or prestige. The only true test of greatness, blessedness, joyfulness is how close a life can come to being like the Master, Jesus Christ. He is the right way, the full truth, and the abundant life.”

Christ gave us a prophet. Although we can communicate with our Heavenly Father through prayers, there are some instructions from Him we can only receive through the prophet. Prophet can guide us and prevent us from going to the wrong direction so it is important to listen to the prophet. The most important prophet is the one who is living in our day and age. This is the prophet who has today's instructions from God to us. That’s why it’s essential that we have access to and carefully read and ponder his words in Church magazines.

Christ gave us His church. The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints is the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth. There is no salvation nor exaltation for us outside of the Church. Through it we receive baptism, priesthood, celestial marriage, and other sealing powers. Quote from President Benson, “We must work with it and in it, build it up and move it forward. We should be willing to give generously of our time, talents, and means for the Church. No matter what happens to the world, the Church will grow in strength and will be intact when the Lord comes again.”

Christ Gave Us the Scriptures –particularly the Book of Mormon. The Prophet Joseph Smith referred the Book of Mormon as the most correct book, and he also called it the keystone of our religion. He said that "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book".

I know this church is true. I know God loves us, he's watching us, he wants us to succeed, and we'll know someday that he hasn’t left one thing undone for the eternal good of each of us. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

it's about time to write another post 是該寫另一篇文章的時間了

So starts from this post, I'm going to write my each blog in 2 langugaes - English and Mandarin. Well....I will think about what I'm going to write tomorrow...today is enough for me already.

所以，從這篇文章開始，我要用兩種不同的語言 - 中文和英文，來發表每篇文章。我想....從明天開始好了，今天我已經受夠了....

I think it's a good idea when you can speak more than 2 languages

I was all mad when I needed some help from people I helped always for my final project. It was something like feedback on my website, not even ask them to help me CREATE anything.
I don't mind helping people and I know it's kinda weird to ask them to return the favor because we don't help people just because we want something from them. An old saying, "A friend in need is a friend indeed." This is sooooooooo true. And about my title, I speak Mandarin, English, and German. Most friends of mine know Mandarin and English, but when I want to say something bad but not very bad, you know? I can use German.....well...I know exactly that Heavenly Father definitely knows what I was saying.....but I was really really angry....I guess I need to repent before going to the bed....

an online presentation?

So I'm about to do my presentation online in 18 hours and 40 minutes. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with that. The only thing I can say is Technology is amazing!

I don't know what's going on but this morning, I woke up, went to kitchen preparing for something to eat, and then.....I saw it snowed outside - 9:15am on September 30....

It's all because that one day I saw a job position in ILM and made me wanna apply for it.
